Horizontal Shipping CLT

A standard "air ride" trailer can be loaded up to a maximum of 25t in the case of horizontal transport with a typical load length of 13.6m and a maximum of 18m long using a trombone trailer with maximum load widths dependent upon regional guidelines provincially, county, township. The standard height is 2.6m but some trailers have lower decks with higher tonne capacity.

A density of 490kg/m3 can be applied to calculate the load weight. As a general rule, a standard shipping quantity is approx. 50m3. But trailers are different in size and capacity.

Guardian wraps the panels and when loaded the trucking company must cover them with a truck tarpaulin. This is necessary to protect your CLT panels against ambient influences. Then the panels between lashing straps and cardboard edge protectors to further protect them.

Guardian uses a minimum of 8 (eight) wooden skids (105x105 or 95x95)mm as standard under the first layer of panels loaded onto the air ride trailer. The wooden skids are equipped with non slip pads. After that, however, every subsequent layer is stacked horizontally directly on top of the previous CLT panels.
